Nomination/Election Procedures
Approved by the SSA Executive Board on Thursday,
February 2, 2006.
The
Nominating Committee will:
As required
in bylaws: Nominate at least one candidate willing to serve for every SSA Executive Board office.
Solicit the general membership for nominations for all offices.
Check that any person nominated in this way is willing to serve.
Construct a “Slate” ballot as follows:
- All nominees willing to serve, regardless of where the nomination came from, will
be listed on the ballot.
- No reference to who nominated the
individual will be on the ballot.
- There will be a means to
submit write-in candidates for any office on the ballot.
- Any
nominees running for offices which may be Co-officers (held by two people), namely Presidents and Vice-presidents, may self-restrict
to running in pairs on the ballot.
During the election
at the annual meeting, additional nominees will be accepted from the floor.
During the election at the annual meeting actual balloting will take place after all nominees for all offices have
been presented, and new nominations accepted.
